‘Patrolfinder has exceeded our expectations’

May 15, 2026

Schenectady, NY, and Poughkeepsie, NY – May 15, 2026 – The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department says Patrolfinder is helping the department strengthen its efforts to protect the city’s nearly 32,000 residents.

When evaluating Patrolfinder in 2025, Chief Richard Wilson said managing a department of 92 officers was a constant balancing act.

“We’re constantly balancing coverage with limited resources,” he said at the time. “With Patrolfinder, supervisors can better manage patrols, especially during night shifts when staffing may be stretched thin.”

Today, Chief Wilson said Patrolfinder has surpassed the goals he originally set for the solution.

“The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department adopted the Patrolfinder platform to better manage uniformed patrol,” he said. “Patrolfinder has exceeded our expectations and has become an important part of our department-wide crime reduction strategy.”

Known as the Queen City of the Hudson, Poughkeepsie is located about 75 miles north of New York City. It is a major commuter hub, with express rail service to Grand Central in under 90 minutes. The city is also home to major colleges, a civic center, and the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, the oldest continuously operating theater in New York State.

Antonio Civitella, president and CEO of Transfinder, the company behind Patrolfinder, said it was gratifying to hear about the Poughkeepsie Police Department’s success and that the platform is meeting and surpassing the chief’s expectations.

“Chief Wilson is a forward-thinking leader who embraces technology,” Civitella said. “A visit to his office makes that clear, with digital screens throughout and a strong commitment to transparency. It is an honor to work with Chief Wilson and the department as they pursue their goals.”

Patrolfinder is patented technology created by Transfinder, a nearly four-decade-old provider of transportation management and logistics software specializing in routing, scheduling, and fleet optimization.

In 2025, the Schenectady Police Department in New York told the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services’ Public Safety Symposium that, with Patrolfinder’s help, the city saw a decline in street-level crime. Compared with a five-year average, SPD reported the following results:

  • 46 percent decrease in motor vehicle thefts
  • 25 percent decrease in vehicle crashes
  • 16 percent decrease in reported robberies
  • 12 percent decrease in confirmed shots fired
  • 8 percent decrease in burglaries
